- D I S K O V E R Y

- by Fender Tucker
-
- This month I've left myself a whopping 9 blocks free on Side One for my
- quarterly editorial. But that's okay; I can say what I need to in a few
- short paragraphs.
-
- I'm short of news about the 128 world but I just received a copy of
- TWIN CITIES 128 by the new publisher, John Brown of Parsec. It's full of
- news, reviews and a few type-in programs. I'd like to welcome TWIN CITIES
- back and wish them the best of luck. There is easily room for both of our
- magazines in the marketplace and I hope you check them out, not long after
- renewing your subscription to LOADSTAR 128. Parsec, Inc. P.O. Box 111,
- Salem MA 01979-0111.
-
- Here's some data from the LOADSTAR Tower. We're selling 3-year
- subscriptions to LOADSTAR 128. Apparently the high sheriffs at Softdisk
- have faith in the C-128, even if Commodore doesn't. Fact: LOADSTAR 128 is
- the only Softdisk magazine that is growing, subscription-wise. The company
- has been slacking off on advertising so the numbers for all of the products
- have been creeping downward -- except for LOADSTAR 128. Our new publisher,
- Greg Malone, formerly of Origin, is beginning a big media push to increase
- subscriptions, so we hope to see all of the numbers take a big jump. PR can
- do wonders, but deep down I know that the real credit goes to you
- subscribers for hanging in there.
-
- I'm not going to be too definite about what's on LOADSTAR 128 #14,
- since I recently had to eat my words on LOADSTAR 64, but Jon Mattson,
- Barbara Schulak, Robert Cook and Dick Heckert have been programming like
- fiends for it. I plan to dash off another 80-column game and join the gang
- of fiends. If you don't have 64K of video RAM and can't run CLIP ARTIST on
- this issue, Dick tells me that a 16K version will be ready soon -- maybe for
- #14. We also have a new addition to our 128 programming community, Bob
- Pellegrino, who's come up with a superb matching game. It's so good that
- you won't mind switching to 40 columns for it. I mean it.
-
- Gotta go. This disk is full.
